See how productive I can be when we have computer equipment that is actually USER-FRIENDLY?!?! It’s wonderful! Anyway, we made a whirlwind trip up to Bill’s Northwoods cabin last night. We had to take all the wood that we cut up last weekend and unload it so that Bill could have the use of his truck back once again. It also gave us an excuse to check on the cabin and make sure it weathered the worst of the winter months ok. None of us had been up there since before Thanksgiving. All in all, things were in order. No major surprises. And even though it was a quick trip, it was still nice to get away and enjoy the quiet last night and this morning. There are a few more pics from the trip, plus some from earlier in the week when Ayden and I joined 3/4 of the Boisvert’s at the Children’s Museum.
Monthly Archive for February, 2006
So Uncle Barney recently pointed out (correctly?) that Ayden will never turn 8 months. How’s that, you ask? Well, being born on the 30th means that this February won’t allow him to technically turn 8 months - no 30th of February. Quite a dilemma. No 8-month birthday celebration for Ayden I guess (actually, there haven’t been any monthly celebrations). Somehow I think Ayden’s going to fair just fine! But Uncle Barney does make an interesting point…
In other news, we have a new home computer (since the last one we bought in 2000 was WAY in need of updating). This isn’t news in and of itself, but it does mean that I can now upload photos from my camera at home (I’ve previously had to go to the shop to do it). So maybe I’ll be a bit more prompt with my photo uploads. We’ll see… enjoy!
So I hope you all had a festive and love-filled Valentine’s Day 2006. Patrick was sweet enough to bring home a big red shiny balloon for Ayden. And the balloon was wieghted down with an adorable cupid teddy bear! Many brownie points for Patrick! (Oh, and he didn’t forget about me either… I got a sweet card with a nice sentiment inside, and most importantly THE WINNING POWERBALL TICKET - at least I hope so. The drawing is tonight, so we’ll see!)
As an aside, I was posting some photos from the last couple of weeks to the new February 2006 gallery, when I realized that none of the photos show Ayden’s two teeth. Yes, he already has TWO teeth. The bottom middle left was the first one to break through right around his six-month mark, and the bottom middle right waited until about a month later. The second one is all the way through the surface of the gum, but not much is sticking up yet. It’s hard to get a decent closeup photo since everytime I go to pull his lip down, he purses them together. I’ll have to try to catch him during one of his open-mouth smiles.
And on a depressing note… I just got my first email about our TEN YEAR High School reunion set for this August. Truly unbelievable how time flies!?!?! I think Patrick and I will plan to make an appearance, but I have a feeling we’ll have to do some arm-twisting where Chad is concerned. But I’m sure he’ll attend too. Oh yes, he will.
Yeah, I know it’s been a week since January ended… but hey, what can I say? I just posted MANY photos to the Late January 2006 gallery. They cover everything from lounging around the house with the cousins, a weekend trip to Seaside, and Ayden’s first haircut!!! I have to admit that the haircut is a huge improvment over the straggly nappy style he was boasting before. It was however, a huge mental/emotional hurdle for Mommy to get over. I liked the hair before, but it does look adorable all buzzed. Thanks to Uncle Barney the barber… he did the honors. And a tidbit of parental advise came about during that haircut - balloons make excellent distractions! I’m not sure Ayden would have gotten through it otherwise! Enjoy the pics!
What FUN!!! I haven’t been to the zoo in… well… literally YEARS! Ayden and I met up with Heather, Lindsay and Emery this morning at The Oregon Zoo. It was overcast but dry when we arrived. And we decided to thoroughly torture the boys with their fuzzy, warm animal suits to wear for the outing - Ayden a yellow ducky, and Emery a blue doggy. TOO CUTE! These boys are never going to forgive us when they get older! Oh well, I’m guessing we can live with the grief we’ll receive!!! We made our way through the maze-like zoo over the course of a couple of hours… and the drizzle (I mean "liquid sunshine") arrived about half way through. We didn’t manage to see all of the exhibits… and some of the animals we did try to see were hiding out of view in their dry, warm homes. Oh well, Heather bought an annual pass, so I’m guessing we’ll get to see them all in the not-too-distant future. Thanks for taking us! Ayden and I had a great time! Enjoy the pics!
P.S. I found it particularly cute when Heather was trying to tell Lindsay that the animals we were looking at were called "musk ox"… and Lindsay kept insisting that "they look like cows". Pretty funny!
